Hope you all are having a very quilty weekend!!!!
Hope you all are having a very quilty weekend!!!!
Finally got this quilt finished! I have been trying to get my oldest quilts quilted and bound and am getting there slowly. This was not the oldest one but it has some age on it. Will get another oldie loaded in my machine later today I hope. Have a few days of free time so I had better take advantage of it. :D
I finally got this wonderful quilt done! It wasThis is how it looks hanging up in my quilting studio and I still couldn't get the who thing in one pix. If it wasn't raining I would take it outside but would have to hang it over the fence. Oh well, no matter how I look at it I still love it!
Hope everyone is having a quilty day!!
It has been forever since I have been in blogland. Alot of changes in my life have been happening and things have calmed down and are back to normal, whatever that may be. I have been doing alot of piecing but little quilting and so I thought I would start quilting again with this wonderful table runner. My dear friend Angela pieced this for me in exchange of my quilting one of her quilts. She does such a wonderful job piecing and that makes this runner even more special!
I have had this Thimbleberries kit in my house for I don't know how many years and am so happy that it is finished. It will be on display in my kitchen through the Thanksgiving holiday and I will love having it there to enjoy!
A little bit of what has been happening is that last November I had quit my job and spent many months at home quilting and enjoying my life. Alas the hubby wasn't too happy about it so I have been hired on at Wal-Mart an hour away. The fun part about my new job is that I work in the fabric department! I have had alot of fun there, talking to quilters and also to the college kids that come and buy fabric to make Halloween costumes and such!! I am amazed at how many of them are ambitious enough to do it! I can honestly say that it is never boring! That's about it. Now to go and check out what everyone else has been doing!!!
Hope you all are having a merry quilty day!
I have a quilt to do for a friend which will be started today, I promise, and then this one will be next. I have vowed to get my stack of quilts done before I start a new one, it will be interesting to see how long I can hold out without using my rotary cutter on a new project!!!! :D
It was HOT there, one afternoon got up to 115 degrees and the humidity was horrendus, but that didn't stop the work that had to be done. I also helped in the kitchen at the church, they fed the workers every day. It was fun serving them and so I got to see quite a few volunteers that way. I can not stress enough how much the people there are so gracious and still thank God for what they do have. They have set a wonderful example for us all, and I do ask that you all keep these people in your prayers!

This will be my last post for a while. I am leaving on a Mission trip with my church family to Joplin, MO. to do what we can to help with the clean up there. This will be my first Mission Trip and I am really looking forward to it. Please keep us in your prayers.
It was alot of fun but what alot of strips!! I have been much better with saving strips and squares and it sure did pay off.
Here's a close up of my quilting. I love this pattern because it gives this quilt so much texture and alot more interest. It has been so hot here the last week that I don't like going out and I am getting alot of sewing and quilting done this way. I have finished quilting and binding my first Quilt-A-Long quilt that will go to a quilty friend of mine. We each made the big quilt for ourselves and then we made the small quilt to send to each other. Below is my little quilt that will be sent to Angela. My large sized quilt like the one below is now on my machine ready to be quilted, which is my plans for today.
I have really enjoyed doing this and am looking forward to more in the future!
Happy Quilting!!
Hope you all out there are staying cool wherever you are!
My quilty friend Angela has sent some patterns to me that she had used, and since I still have some Merry and Bright FQ's I decided to have some Christmas fun in July!
Merry Christmas To All!!!!!!

My husband always teases me and says "How come you can't remember what we talked about yesterday, but can remeber everything about a quilt you made 2 years ago!" Is there anybody out there like me????
I just finished putting on the borders this afternoon so now it is time to quilt them both. Angela is hand quilting my quilt, I am so excited, and I will do hers by machine. They both are going to look so cool. :D
Here is a close up picture of the border fabric. I had a hard time deciding whether to go with the blue color or the red but finally decided on the red. I think it gives the look a little punch.
I just love doing these quilt alongs and love to see how all the other quilts look like!!
Happy Quilting!

I really like the bright colors with these fabrics, gets me in the mood for the 4th of July!
Well, not really, lol! I have a quilty friend who is making this quilt in some of the most beautiful pastel fabrics that I had commented on and she liked my fabrics so we agreed to make each other the small version in our fabrics. I have been working on these stars this afternoon and am to the point of actually putting the little stars together. I must say they were actually pretty easy. Hope you all are having a great day, I love days like this!

It has been a busy summer this year, family get togethers, weddings, hooking up with old friends, etc. It has also been fun hooking up with quilts that I haven't finished, but started many years ago. The one below is one of them. I started this quilt while in Paducah with friends. One of the girls had taken a class with the designer, Edyta Star, and taught a group of us how to make the blocks. It was fun but I had put it away and not finished it until yesterday.
I will always treasure this quilt. It is filled with fun, laughter, and memories of a wonderful trip to a quilt show in Paducah!
What a great day! Since it is so hot here in NW Indiana today I have spent the time quilting a quilt that I had made many years ago and decided it needed to be finished too. The older fabrics have brought back alot of memories. I love days like this! :D

I did use up alot of my strips that I had accumulated over the past couple of years and will have to start cutting more and putting them away for future use. It's a great way to make a quilt bigger!
It has also been a rough couple of weeks. You see I lost my oldest daughter to Leukemia when she was just 25 years old. 14 years ago last week was when she went to be with the Lord. Before she passed away, one of the people I worked with that lived in Georgia was a friend and neighbor of Alan Jackson who was my daughters favorite singer. Being the wonderful person that he is, Alan Jackson autographed one of his hats and had it sent to my daughter. My daughter put it in a glass case with her pix beside the hat. I now have this wonderful gift and will always thank Alan Jackson for making my daughter so happy in her final days!
Well, we can't leave her younger sister out! The quilt below is the one I was quilting on when she stopped in last week with her mom and sister and asked me if she could have it. Of course this grandma can't resist when they ask so sweetly so I just finished quilting and binding this quilt and it is ready for her to take home.
I have been enjoying staying home and not working so much! I have worked outside the home for over 30 years and it took me a while to get used to being home and now I am so content in my little world that sometimes it takes alot to get me out of here. With all I have been doing here at home I just can't for the life of me figure out how I found time to go to work!!
This is a Scnibble's pattern called "Roundabout" and I think it will be perfect!
The next pix is for the little one's brother who didn't get a quilt when he was born. I think he will like the funny wierd looking Octopus's in the border, they are a real hoot!!
And this last pix will be a quilt for my cousin's new grandbaby that will be born in about 6 months. It is a Schnibbles pattern "Roundabout" but I will make it bigger. I just love this pattern and if all goes well I will make a lap quilt for myself.
Now, I will figure out if anyone in my little contest from a previous post has the correct pattern that I will be doing after I finish the baby quilt. Stay tuned!

Once I got the hang of the pattern it went pretty fast so I think I will make one in reds and pinks next. It would make a cute Valentine Quilt don't you think??!!
