Old UFO Finish

I finally did it! I finally finished the oldest UFO I have. This quilt was a block exchange with other quilters that I used to meet with every Tuesday night at sit & stitch at Bits N Pieces quilt shop in Crown Point, IN. When someone suggested doing a block exchange using civil war fabrics I decided to join in. I believe this pattern was in a Fons & Porter magazine and that is what gave my friend the idea. I just love how it turned out!
I found the border fabric at a real bargain and I love how it ties all the colors together. The backing on this quilt is the same fabric.

I am really fired up now and pulled out the rest of my unquilted quilts and have them stacked with their backings ready to go between church and customer quilts. What a fun summer I am going to have!

Quilty Things

It seems like I have been gone forever, not posting that is. I haven't been gone, just busy with work and quilting, and just doing the normal stuff. Feeling a little blue one day made me think of this little quilt that I needed to finish. I pulled it out of my unfinished stack and finally did just that yesterday afternoon. I then pulled out a quilt that I made at least 6 years ago and decided to finish it too. It is still on the machine, only 3 rows of quilting left to do, so I will finish it up tonight after work. I am now excited and really charged up to finish more between my customer and church quilts!

I love to sit and look and quilt books when I am not quilting in the evening. Here are 2 that I just purchased. I love them both and see quilts made from them in my near future. :D

It is going to be a short work week with having yesterday off for the holiday. I really don't mind that, just more quilting time for me. Have a great week!

Finally Done!

I finally finished "My" quilt this afternoon, thank heaven! Hubby checked the machine after I took the quilt out and checked the timing. It was just fine, what he found was alot of fuzz in the bobbin case. I clean it out every time I wind a new bobbin and put it in but there still is quite a bit. Do any of you have that problem too? He thinks that is what is causing my problems. Perma Core thread is what I use and have for 10 years now. I have also used Bottom Line thread but thought it was so thin that it would break easier.
I would appreciate any feedback, I really want to get to the bottom of my problem. Below is a closer view of the quilting. The pattern I used was Field Of Flowers and it fit the quilt perfectly. :D
The next quilt I will work on is now in the machine and ready for me to start on tomorrow so now I am off to get the binding made. Hope everyone had a fun and productive weekend!

Sneek Peek At My Next Project

I have had some issues with my quilting machine lately, just hasn't done the job right. I am no mechanic so that job falls to my hubby. Well, he works hard and so when he comes home he really doesn't want to mess with any machine problems I might have. Well, I have been so frustrated that I finally decided to line up a quilter to send my quilts to since my machine couldn't do the job right. Well, needless to say last evening the tools came out, and in no time my machine was working like new.

I had put in one of my quilts that has been sitting on a shelf for at least five years or so in my machine, didn't want to use a customer quilt for this test drive, and it is really looking great!
No tiny loops on the back so far and the stitches are looking really good. I guess a little threatening to pay someone else finally did the trick. I will have to remember this in the future. :D

Mystery Quilt Finally Quilted

I finally finished the Ministry baby quilt and am really happy with how it turned out. I have started sewing down the binding and hopefully will finish it one evening this week. Some little one will have a wonderful quilt to cuddle with soon.

Here is my Tobacco Road quilt finally quilted! I have the binding cut and will attach it tonight. Have I ever mentioned that sewing down the binding of a quilt is my favorite part of the process? So relaxing and knowing the quilt is almost complete gives me such peace and a real sense of accomplishment.

I just love the bright colors of the flying geese!
I have put another old quilt of mine in the machine to quilt and should have it done by the weekend, I think this one has been packed away since 2003. :D Anyone else have some really old quilts to finish up like me?

Saturday Shopping with Hubby

Saturday hubby and I set off for Indianapolis to hit a couple of quilt shops that I don't get to very often. You can imagine how excited I was, being able to take all the time I wanted, browsing around and really enjoying myself. Of course I wanted it all but ended up with just what I really thought I needed.

I found some wonderful background fabrics. It seems I am always needing lights so these just fit the bill. The Back Door in Indy is one of my favorite shops. They had quite a few quilts of Edyta Sitar there and all of her patterns. I guess she will be visiting the shop in the near future so I just had to have a couple of her new patterns that I don't have. They are time consuming but so worth it. I have a quilt made of one of her first patterns that is all put together but not quilted yet. I will show it when it's all done. :D The other shop we stopped at after lunch was "Quilt Quarters" which is where I got the wonderful roll of fabrics and the print everything is sitting on. I spent alot of time just wandering there, too many wonderful prints, just couldn't make up my mind.
Here are a couple of wonderful books I picked up. I also got the "fresh vintage sewing" by Fig Tree Quilts. Love-Love-Love her patterns! All in all it was a wonderful day! Good food, great fabrics, and a wonderful hubby who made the day so special by being patient. He is a keeper and I am blessed!

AND THE WINNER IS....................

First I want to thank one and all for entering the give-a-way! I wish I had a gift for all of you, but the paper my hubby drew was........ MYA MADHAVEN! Congrats and let me know your address and I will get the FQ stack out to you ASAP.

Have a great day everyone and I look forward to another 100 posts. :D
