Newest Finish

Here is the latest scrap quilt I have been working on, American Beauty from Evelyn Sloppy's book "40 Fabulous Quick-Cut Quilts". I finally got the borders on it the last weekend. I really loved the quilt in the book much better than mine, more golds and buttery looking fabrics, but I am determined to use up alot of bits and pieces that I already have. It is fun to remember where you used the same fabrics in other projects. I can remember where I bought pieces of fabric that I have had for years but can't remember what I did yesterday.

The quilt is a good size but too big to hang in my studio to get a pix so I had to take them in sections. It would be nice to have a spot to hang them so the whole quilt will show. I am sure my DH can come up with something.

When I took this last picture I about died! See the block that is turned wrong, and I was so careful!!!! Oh well, I thought maybe I would just leave it as is, but I just couldn't do it. It only took about a half hour to rip that block out and turn it around. Now it is truly done and just needs to get quilted.

I REALLY like this quilt!

I chuckled when I read about the turned block. I've done the same thing. I'm wondering if the quilt I posted this weekend has a turned block or if it's just the contrast in the various greens I used that makes it look wierd. It's too late now to do anything because I've given it away! But boy that picture looks strange when I sit and stare at it.

When I have a large quilt that I want to take a picture of I either hang it on the clothes line or from the grandkids swing set.

I've done the same thing, but didn't discover it till it was already quilted. The quialt used the contrary wife block, so I just said it was because I was one. My story and sticking to it.
Love the quilt. Need to do the same thing here and get rid of some fabric.

Boy am I glad you fixed that block, it was really bugging me.
Just kidding, I still haven't figured out where it was. It's a beautiful quilt.

And thank you for your kind words on the memory quilt.

Very pretty and you'll always be glad you fixed that block.

I have had the wrong way block happen myself. I think it is because you are working close to the piece and don't see the big picture until you get the whole thing a distance away. At least it was a fairly easy fix. Good job!

I'm so pleased you fixed the block - it is a lovely quilt and the misplacement would have bugged you forever - best wishes - Lurline.
