Farm Life

Last evening hubby and I had a date to have dinner with the young man who went to Canada with us last year and his fiance. On our way we went by this beautiful field of corn that belongs to me. My dad died when I was in high school and he left farm ground to my brother and I. My son farms my ground now, which has always been his dream, and I love driving by and seeing the crops growing. We had a slow start this year with all the rain, but it has been growing like crazy now that it is really warm and sunny. It looks like it will be a good year after all! Once we arrived to pick up our dinner guests, Chris's cows welcomed us with curious looks. It has been so hot here that the cows find any mud they can and lay in it to cool off. They all looked pretty cruddy but cool! Here is a better shot of some of them going out to pasture for some good grass for supper.

Our last stop before leaving for our supper was the tool shed. Here is where all his animals are mounted. I guess his fiance really doesn't think they belong in the house (I agree but we don't have a tool shed) so here is where he put them. Great idea!

That is a little bit of farm life in my neck of the woods and I hope you have enjoyed it. I love traveling and visiting other parts of this world but I wouldn't want to live anywhere but here.
Home sweet home!

I grew up on a farm too. When I went to my family reunion last weekend, I noticed that the corn is really shooting up now. My garden is too and the tomatoes are setting on now.

Looks like your corn will be well past "Knee high by the Fourth of July".

Thanks for sharing the photos of your farm. My husband and I have a vacation home in Ky and enjoy seeing all the crops growing.

Knee high by the fourth of July. Looks like your son has accomplished that. Just went to our farmer's market and got fresh corn. Sure wish I had some good fresh IN corn.
Beautiful site!

I'm just chuckling over Scraphappy's comment! For how different life can be around this nation, your post is 100% like life around here (rural Wisconsin). Glad to hear that crops are doing okay for you -- now we just have to survive July and August!!!

I grew up on a farm in Mississippi so I know what farm life is like. The corn is looking good.

Hi Carol, it's Pat. I grew up in Indiana and now that I live in Florida I miss seeing the corn fields. Your son has done a wonderful job.
