To Border Or Not To Border??

I finished my "Hip To Be Blush" quilt, actually it is a pattern from Kim Brackett's book "Scrap-Basket Surprises" but I thought since I used my Blush FQ stack it would be more appropriate.
My dilema is that I think it might need a solid border around it. Kim's quilt looks great without one but I think this one just might. I think maybe a solid border with some applique flowers would do the trick! I have some pretty FQ's for someone who's idea I will use if you would like to suggest what "you" think would look the best! Friday will be the day I make my decision for a finish and draw for the FQ"s. Have a great day and stay warm!!

It's beautiful the way it is, but I'm a border kind of girl too!

Brown Tone-on-Tone border, applique flowers in 2 opposite corners, flowers should be similar to the ones in the pink and brown prints, minus the leaves. Do the appliques so that there's some in the corner and heading down each side of the corner for a block or so. Finish off with a pink binding

Ideas! Ideas!! :-D I love the pallette -- pink and brown is always a winner!! I see not only borders, but a big ol' applique something (a daisy or sunflower or something!?) in the lower right corner extending up and curving into the center (kinda like this: http://www.alibaba.com/product-free/264001784/quilt_fabric_Gathering_Baskets_Block_a/showimage.html only more curve to the center :-D) -- THEN, brown frame border, and pink scalloped border, with a scittering of flowers/vines/leaves on the upper left corner.
Fun, fun, fun! :-D
Thanks for letting us dream a little with you! It's gonna be a beauty whatever you decide!
Blessings,
Mary Lou

I agree with your thoughts on a border with a trailing applique in 1 or 2 corners. It's a beautiful quilt that is very busy and I feel every quilt needs a place where you can rest your eyes. You might even consider 2 borders with the first one being being quite thin and the 2nd one wide enough to fit your favorite applique.
Keep on quilting!

I like the idea of a very thin border, and then a wider border with the applique flowers. Maybe "stack" the flowers, with several colors, like they are in the quilt? It looks beautiful so far! Can't wait to see how you finish it off!

I don't need more fabric but will say yes to a border. A darker border would corral up all the colors and an applique in one top corner and the opposite lower corner would look neat.

I think a pink border would be perfect, even several pinks if you don't have enough of one. Then the darker colors would look great in simple polka dots. A big one in the corner and then smaller sizes as they trail toward the center of each side. They could even overlap a bit and dip into the center for a whimsical touch.

I like a border to give it that finished feel too.

I think a border would be nice too, since there are lighter colors on the edge. I was thinking hearts for the applique, since it is close to Valentine's Day. You could put in as much or as few as you want.

I like the idea of extending the applique onto the quilt top.

I like it like this but I think a border or borders would really "make" this quilt. I'm a border girl too so I tend to add borders to everything. Applique would also add to it but that's up to you. I think it depends how much time you want to spend on this. I love this fabric, I can't wait to see what you decide. Have fun!

I see a border. The quilt is fairly busy, and a border will give the eye a place to rest.

I'm a bit late adding my 2-cents worth, but I agree with everyone who suggested that a border, or two, would finish the wonderful fabrics with just the right touch.
I bet you're already working on it :)

Wow! I love your version of this quilt. The colors are wonderful. I can see a border on it, even though I'm really liking borderless quilts lately. Thanks so much for sharing the picture!

It is beautiful, I love it just the way it is. Perhaps a pretty scrap binding from your left overs would finish it off nicely.
