It has been quite a long week and I am so glad it is Saturday! My sweet mother in law passed away this last week so we spent a few days in the beautiful mountains of Kentucky where her funeral took place. Heaven is so much better with her there and we will see her again one day.
As far as quilting is concerned, I am ready for a new project, all the old ones will wait for me, and these are the scraps I have decided to use up. I have a pattern by Kaye England that I think will be perfect for all these scraps from my "Crabapple Tree Quilt". I have sorted most of the scraps but as you can see I still have a pile in the top of the pix. This will be a perfect quilt to make during harvest season. I need to continue to sew to keep my sanity!! :D
The weather has changed to this wonderful fall feeling, cool in the early mornings and evenings and pretty warm during the day. What a great time of the year!
Happy quilting one and all!!!

Short Trip-Many Quilt Shops
What a great Friday and Saturday trip my husband and I took! It is a short vacation for hubby and I before harvest starts. We had a great time, seeing gorgeous country, having beautiful weather and many different towns. We started out in NW Indiana, went to Madison, IN, a great little town with great quilt shops, Margie's Country Store being my favorite! Below is some of the the great fabrics I walked out with. :D
Went on down toward our daughter's in Cincy, by way of a great Casino which spit out some nice cash to me from the slots before we left. Spent the night with family and then went south to the Quilt Box in Dry Ridge,KY. We have been there several times and always come out with a few civil war fabrics. The 6 folded FQ are what I got from there.
After having a great lunch we continued on back to Indiana stopping at a couple more shops and arrived home last night. We love going places but it sure is nice to sleep in your own bed again!

Getting Ready for Christmas
It is a beautiful August day but I am thinking Christmas. I have always loved the Merry & Bright fabrics, one of my all time favorites, and have been working on finishing up some small pieces that were started last year. The little quilt below is now all quilted and bound, ready for Christmas.
This table runner however has yet to be quilted. I am thinking about quilting it the old fashion way, by hand. It has been a long time since I have quilted by hand, and with this small project at least it won't be too hot to hold on my lap.
Anyone else working on Christmas projects??
