Quilting Up A Storm

Quilting up a storm is just what it feels like I have been doing. Summer is flying by and August will be here before I know it. I am trying to get all my customer quilts done before leaving for Canada and if I don't stay on top of it then it won't happen.

I finished this Christmas quilt on Saturday while daughter was working on the computer.

This quilt I finished last Saturday but it will be delivered with the Christmas quilts. It was a block exchange quilt and I love how she tied all the different blocks together.

This is the Christmas quilt I am working on now and hope to finish it up tonight after work. This quilt is really different and I love the deep rich colors!

Of course I am still piecing my little basket blocks. After supper and after I finish up in the studio I can manage to get one block done. They are starting to add up and now I am trying to decide how to put them together. Something fun to look forward to.
It is supposed to be in the 70's with no humidity for the next couple of days, my kind of summer weather, so it will be a perfect day! Hope your day will be the same. :D

Farm Life

Last evening hubby and I had a date to have dinner with the young man who went to Canada with us last year and his fiance. On our way we went by this beautiful field of corn that belongs to me. My dad died when I was in high school and he left farm ground to my brother and I. My son farms my ground now, which has always been his dream, and I love driving by and seeing the crops growing. We had a slow start this year with all the rain, but it has been growing like crazy now that it is really warm and sunny. It looks like it will be a good year after all! Once we arrived to pick up our dinner guests, Chris's cows welcomed us with curious looks. It has been so hot here that the cows find any mud they can and lay in it to cool off. They all looked pretty cruddy but cool! Here is a better shot of some of them going out to pasture for some good grass for supper.

Our last stop before leaving for our supper was the tool shed. Here is where all his animals are mounted. I guess his fiance really doesn't think they belong in the house (I agree but we don't have a tool shed) so here is where he put them. Great idea!

That is a little bit of farm life in my neck of the woods and I hope you have enjoyed it. I love traveling and visiting other parts of this world but I wouldn't want to live anywhere but here.
Home sweet home!

Hexagons

I have been having so much fun with the 'Little Baskets' that my friend had asked me if I was doing anything with my Hexagons. Well, I have been working on them when we are traveling in the car but not much here at home, love the 'Little Baskets' more. One thing about having 2 of these wonderful projects in the works is I never get bored or tired of either one.

Quilty Weekend

It has been a real quilty weekend here. I spent all day Saturday quilting a customer quilt and this afternoon I put in the next one. After talking to my children on the phone I decided it was time to do a few more baskets. These little gems are going pretty fast and these 4 didn't take long at all. I have quite a few more basted on their sqares, ready to be worked on whenever I have a few minutes. I like the dark backgrounds and light baskets so I can mix them up with the 4 patches and create a little more interest.

These are really addictive, which is a good thing. I will have this quilt put together before Christmas if I continue as I have been, at least that is my goal.

Finally Finished!

Yippee! It is done, completed, finished! I am so happy, one down and ??? to go.
This quilt was made with all scraps from other quilts, even the border was leftover from a backing.
I found scraps to make my label and I bordered the label with leftover binding from my Wonky Stars quilt. This quilt has alot of memories in it and so it will be one that I will keep for myself.

Loving the Baskets!

These baskets are soooo addictive and so much fun. These are the ones I have done but I have alot more basted to their backgrounds and ready to be stitched. I did take a little time to make a few pieced blocks to put in the quilt like the original quilt has. What fun it has been and the pieces make be smile just looking at them. :D

Little Baskets

Today I tried my hand at making the little baskets for my "Tisket a Tasket My Christmas Baskets" quilt. I got off to a rough start, but with the help of my quilty friend "Carol" from southern Indiana, I am getting along much better and am now enjoying making these little beauties. They go really fast and with them being so small they are a great portable take along block.

Thanks to all you bloggers out there for the inspiration to even try these! :D

Gloomy Wednesday

It is gloomy out this morning but the forecast is for rain. We have had quite a bit this spring and everything is so lush and green. The new header pix is one I took of some of the flowers blooming in the side yard. The colors are so yummy!
I have been admiring the little baskets that so many quilters are making and I just couldn't resist any longer. I received my book "When the Cold Wind Blows" Saturday and have been trying to figure out what fabrics to use. I am going to stick with my stash on this one. I love the browns and pinks but I have so much of the "Merry & Bright" leftover from other projects that I think I will use those and make another Christmas quilt.
I have been working on getting my old quilts quilted that have been piled in the closet. Monday evening I stacked them on my cutting table and pulled fabric for backings. They are in plain view now and I "WILL" get them quilted this summer! I have cut way back on customer quilts and only have 6 left to do and then I am done until all my quilts are done. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! :D
I love this particular quilt that I am quilting on now. I love the colors and it was all from my stash too, it makes me think of fall and cool weather. One more quilt almost done that I can mark off my list. Life is good!

Hexagons Connected

Since I haven't been machine quilting all that much when I get home from work lately, I have been doing some hand sewing instead. I have quite a few of the hexagon units done now and decided to see what they will look like put together. On the Hexagon blog I printed out the pix of the quilt that is put together like I am doing this one. I have done some undoing the first evening but now have got the hang of how the units will go together.

I'm really liking how this is coming together. I think I might just make a small lap, it will take me years to make a full sized one. :D

Houses & Baby Quilt

I was so excited this week, I received my houses from a swap I was in. Thanks go to "Humble Quilter" for collecting the blocks and sending them out to us. I love them and look forward to putting them into a quilt. Ladies, I love them all!

This weekend I finished quilting another quilt for our Quilting Ministry at church. I love the colors in this one and Sharon did a wonderful job of embroidering the blocks and putting this darling quilt together. It is going to the new daughter of our Children's Minister. We were able to get colors to match her room, how cool is that! Here is a view of the whole quilt.

Next is a view of the verse on the top of the quilt...

And a view of the verse at the bottom of the quilt..

The words are stitched with varigated thread and look wonderful in person. Sharon did a great job with it. I love these bible story quilts. What a wonderful way to learn about the bible through the pictures of the stories on the quilt.
