Finally Done Piecing!

After a very nice quilter sent me some of her fabrics that I had run out of, I finally got all the blocks pieced and ready for the next step. My studio is a mess with little pieces of fabrics and thread, but oh, it was so worth it! This is one quilt that will stay with me forever, never to be gifted away.

Off to the dentist I go. Have to have a root canal, and since I am not a good patient, I have been given some really good pills that relax me and I am almost to the point of taking a nap. I have a 20 minute drive to make to get there, thank heaven I live where I will take the back roads (through the country)to get to two towns over for my procedure.

Have a great afternoon! I know I won't!!

Another Block

Another day of the Quilt Along and here is a different block. It is so pretty but since I am using FQ's I am afraid I might run short on a few and then I will have to make new ones. Oh well, when you don't know what the quilt will be that will happen. I can always order more fabric I guess. :D
I really like the bright colors with these fabrics, gets me in the mood for the 4th of July!
Wow, and it is just around the corner!! Happy sewing!

In The Meantime.............

Since I have the pieces of my "Quilt Along" quilt up to date I decided to get some quilting done for a friend of mine. This quilt is for her grandaughter and it is so adorable!

I just love the colors and I know this young lady will cherish it for years to come!!

Playing around

Yesterday, after I finished my last clue on my "Simple Things" quilt, I was playing around with some pieces of one of the blocks and came up with this cute strip which I think would make a great border!

I think I will play some more and see what else I can come up with. Happy piecing!

I Just Can't Stop!

I just can't quit making these great stars, large and small!
Well, not really, lol! I have a quilty friend who is making this quilt in some of the most beautiful pastel fabrics that I had commented on and she liked my fabrics so we agreed to make each other the small version in our fabrics. I have been working on these stars this afternoon and am to the point of actually putting the little stars together. I must say they were actually pretty easy. Hope you all are having a great day, I love days like this!

All Fixed Now!

I decided my quilt needed a frame, just didn't look right. Sooo, I dug through my scraps and found this border leftover from a prior quilt. I think it was just what the doctor ordered!

Now, it is time to get busy on the Quilt Along Quilt!!

A Finish & A Beginning

I just finished piecing my new Schnibbles Pattern "Recess" and I think it needs a dark printed border. I always seem to like the darker borders, I guess it is like putting a pix in a pix frame. May have to do some shopping to find what I need, a hardship I know.

Today we received the next step in the "Simple Things Quilt Along", yeah!! I have to cut my fabrics yet but I am really anxious to do this quilt. I love my fabric choices and so the quilt will be wonderful too. Hope there are alot of you out there that will be playing along, am looking forward to seeing all the different ones!
Happy Sewing and have a great day!!

An Old Friend

It has been a busy summer this year, family get togethers, weddings, hooking up with old friends, etc. It has also been fun hooking up with quilts that I haven't finished, but started many years ago. The one below is one of them. I started this quilt while in Paducah with friends. One of the girls had taken a class with the designer, Edyta Star, and taught a group of us how to make the blocks. It was fun but I had put it away and not finished it until yesterday.

I will always treasure this quilt. It is filled with fun, laughter, and memories of a wonderful trip to a quilt show in Paducah!

Blocks Pieced -Check

I finished piecing my "Weaving The Rails" blocks this morning, yeah!!! And the postman brought the book for my "Acorn Hollow Quilt Kit" that I had found stashed away.

What a great day! Since it is so hot here in NW Indiana today I have spent the time quilting a quilt that I had made many years ago and decided it needed to be finished too. The older fabrics have brought back alot of memories. I love days like this! :D

"Simple Things" Quilt Along

I was looking at my favorite blogs last night and found a "Quilt Along". I love these, quilters making the same quilt at the same time and seeing each others progress. Naturally I signed up and then spent most of the evening picking out my fabrics. It didn't take me too long, had bought fabric a while ago and decided it would be perfect!

You also get a fun "button" to put on your blog. :D
"Quilt Along" with us, it is going to be fun!!!!
