As far as quilting goes, it is going slowly. I have been working on the same Christmas quilt in the early mornings but have just been too tired to do much. It will get done by the holidays, I hope. :D
My hubby surprised me yesterday when I got home. He had been in Lafayette picking up some things and when I got home last night I found he had bought me a new cutting mat! My old one had grooves in it so bad from wear that I have to cut each piece of fabric at least 2 to 3 times. It is wonderful to be able to only make one pass!! He not only brought me a mat but he also bought this FQ group of Jo Morton! I was totally shocked but he knows how much I love Jo's fabric. I am so lucky to have a hubby that does
things for me like this. I guess you would say he is a keeper!!!

My Aunt Dorothy is all about family history and has been all over the world finding documents where our ancestors came from and something about them. During one of her searches she found a box of quilt blocks. She wanted all her neices and nephews to have a piece of this history so she had them framed and a little write up that went with them. Here is my block.
And here is the insert that tells a little of the history.
The story of Nettie dying so young was that she had gotten sick with a fever in September and it was one of the hottest on record. Back then if you had a fever they kept you covered with many quilts and blankets to sweat it out but with it being so hot she died. Such a sad story, but am glad that I know that there was someone in my past that loved to quilt and that I have a piece of her work to bond the two of us together.

Below is a pix of Sherri who helps me in the fall and works at the fertilizer plant down the street when she isn't helping me. To the right is an unsuspecting farmer Mark. He looks thrilled doesn't he??
When I got home last night I started making this quilt for my DIL for Christmas. It is going to be so cute and really goes fast! That's all for now, gotta get to work but just had to post something! I miss all of you out there and try to check out some blogs when I have a minute. What did we do before blogs came along???

This last quilt I finished piecing last night when I got home from work. Now I just have to get the border fabric ordered and attached and then I am ready to get the quilting done. I should make it by Christmas! :D This was the first time I used Jelly Rolls and I enjoyed it. Saved a cutting step so this quilt went quick.
That's it for now. No help for me today at the elevator so the day ought to go quick. One thing about my customers, they are patient. So far the yields haven't been too bad. One farmer had a bean field that produced 85 bu to the acre which was a record for him. Haven't heard about corn yet, the guys are really just getting started.
Have a great weekend and I will think quilty thoughts to get me through the day! :D

Above is where I weigh and record the trucks and print out their tickets. It is hard to see because it is so bright outside. To the far right is the DTN where I get the grain prices from the Chicago Board of Trade. I also get all my weather maps and the radar and the forecast of the weather. That is so important. :D
These last 2 pix are what I am working on, 2 seperate projects in the works. The one on the right I am sewing on before I come to work and the one on the left is for TV watching with hubby after supper. More on them in the future. That is all for now. Got to get to work, it looks like it will be a glorious day!
